Clothing Review: City Chic Plus Size Jeans

City Chic was kind enough to send a pair of their Glamourzon Night Jeans to me to review. The jeans shown in the image was black, the jean I received was a dark denim wash. As a plus size woman I find it difficult at times to find a really dark wash color denim, so many styles go medium or light wash. This jean was as dark a blue as I’ve ever seen, and believe me I’ve bought a lot of jeans over the years. The color is beautiful, if you are looking for a dressy jean these will fit the bill.

I tried the Glamourzon Night Jeans on and at first it was a tight squeeze. Trying them on a second time they fit perfectly, they may have needed an initial first stretch to form to my body. They are form fitting indeed, very curvy and look crisp and fresh with no creases or bumps. The denim jeans are a mix of cotton, polyester, and spandex, which means no shrinking, great comfy fit, and they will always look terrific on, which is a real plus for me. I love having spandex in my jeans and these jeans have a good amount spandex. The spandex makes the jean hug your curves but they are still very comfortable to wear all day long, it is the perfect amount of stretch in a jean. The Glamourzon Night Jeans do not have a petite or tall length, if you order them they will be average length or longer. Since I’m on the shorter side I’ll need to turn them up, but I am used to hemming most pants I purchase. If you like your jeans long you will love these jeans. The bootcut seems more flared than most bootcut jeans I have purchased, if you like bootcut flare you will like these jeans.

The dark wash denim jeans have a zip fly, five pockets, with a small diamante ‘CC’ on the back pocket. Speaking of the pockets, they are deep, which I always appreciate. Nothing worse than a half pocket that barely holds a chapstick. The front pockets have plenty of room to spare, with a mini pocket included in the right pocket. The back pockets are long, something to keep in mind since they substantially cover your butt area. I love big pockets and think the design is fabulous front and back. There are ample belt loops for a wide belt to accompany the jeans. The stitching on the jeans is a warm golden yellow stitch that runs around the pockets, waist, and seams of the jeans.

The denim jeans have a mid-rise waist, located between the typical waist top jeans and low riding jeans, which should work for most women. One of my favorite aspects of the Glamourzon Night Jeans is how they hug your curves but most importantly how the legs are tailored in proportion to the rest of the jean. I can’t tell you how many jeans I buy that fit correctly in the midsection but have huge baggy legs that make the jean profile less appealing. If you like wide leg jeans this is no problem, but I prefer a closer fit for legs and these jeans fit the leg area perfectly. I have to commend City Chic for paying attention to this kind of detail with their jeans.

Spring trends for petite, full-figured women are all about elongating and flattering the form. Longer lines and well-fitted clothes are the key. This means that tailoring is in this spring. When you lengthen a petite form you provide the illusion of more height. This in combination with tailored items that fit your form, serve to flatter a curvy figure. Following these basic guidelines will help to lengthen and accentuate your assets, while leaving you feeling light and bright along with the trends of the season.

Soft, flowing styles: Simple, versatile, and fresh are all components of a great spring wardrobe. Romanticism is in this spring, with light, airy knits that drape and flatter the figure.

Longer hemlines: These can actually do wonders for a shorter frame if you add some height. You can add height with a pair of fabulous sandal wedges or simply by showing a little skin below the knee.

Prints: While this spring is a print-heavy season, it is not necessarily the best option for petite, full-figures. In many cases texture is still a better option than print. If you do decide to go for prints, however, choose low contrast, monochromatic ones. The smaller the print, the better. You can pair these with a cardigan or cover up from the same color family for a completed look. Be sure to only have one patterned piece per outfit.

Whites and brights: Whites and brights are focal point this spring. It is important to keep in mind, however, that white is not especially flattering for a full figure. Instead, try cobalt blues or darker versions of the bright colors that are in this season. Putting bold colors on top paired with darker bottoms is a great way to draw the eye up and accentuate the face.

Wedge heel: Wedges are one of the best ways to make the leg look longer. You don’t even need to have that much of a heel- just enough to create the illusion of more length.

Statement accessories: Stay away from big jewelry because the contrast will only serve to make you look shorter and will add bulk. Stick with medium-size to small jewelry instead. Long, layered necklaces and pendants are the best option.

Accessorizing with color is always a great idea, but be sure to only have one statement color piece per outfit; too much color will add bulk to your frame. Belts are another great way to accessorize. For a full-figure, stick to mid thickness belts that accentuate, but don’t cinch the waist.

Wider legs: Bell bottoms and flares will rarely do the trick. This season stick to straight legs that create longer lines and length. Avoid super skinny legged pants as they serve to accentuate the fullness of the hips and butt.
