More than any other season, winter wreaks havoc from head to toe. Chapped lips, parched skin and brittle hair can leave you longing for summer days again. Make a few simple beauty choices now and help to ease red, irritated, wind-burned skin and static-filled hair before it even starts.
Warm, heated rooms might be cozy on cold days, but the dry air helps contribute to chapped, tight skin. Try spreading lotion on in the shower before towel drying to help lock in moisture. Facial creams come in different blends for night or day use. Switch to a nighttime formula during the day, if your skin feels tight or looks dry. The extra moisture might be heavy during summer months, but will help to seal in moisture when the winter wind blows.
Avoid any styling products that contain alcohol, as this will only dry your hair and contribute to flyaway, unmanageable styles. Curly locks can benefit from shine serums that are oil-based rather than alcohol-based and help to define curls and avoid unmanageable frizz while hydrating the hair. Avoid blow-drying hair; instead, get most of the water out by towel drying and run the blow dryer for a minute or two before letting it dry naturally. This will help to ease static-filled hair. Apply a conditioner made specifically for fine hair to also help tame any rebellious strands.
The thick skin of heels, elbows and kneecaps can become particularly dry during the winter months. Find a moisturizer with shea butter or lanolin to give these dry patches the extra boost of conditioning they need. Apply products at night to give skin extra time to absorb and reapply in the morning after showering. A clean pair of cotton socks can be worn on your feet to keep the balm from getting messy.
Don’t forget your lips; the delicate skin can become dry and rough quickly, so look for a formula that’s beeswax-based and has an SPF of at least 15. It might be overcast outside, but the sun can still affect skin with damaging ultraviolet rays, so don’t neglect sunscreen just because you`re not at the beach.
Winter beauty doesn’t have to break the bank. For stocking up on moisture-rich supplies, New Look discount vouchers can help ease the price at the checkout counter and fill your bathroom cabinet with all the supplies you’ll need to stay glamorous on the darkest winter day.

Women's Plus Size Clothing Glasses are becoming a fashion commodity for everyone, be it for vision correction or merely to finish of a stylish outfit. However choosing the right pair of glasses isn’t easy and it is not only the importance of comfort and usability, it is how do the glasses make you look and feel?
Like the many different sizes and shapes of glasses that there are available, the nation is full of different shaped faces. The shape of your face will determine the style and shape of a frame that suits you. Due to the thousands of styles of eyeglasses available, be it on line or in your local opticians, it can be daunting to select the correct pair of glasses that make you look and feel on top of the fashion trend.
As your fashion stylist for your eyewear needs we have created the following guide to enhance your style and assist you on your way to looking and feeling fabulous with this season’s must have glasses designs.
We all know 2011 has seen the comeback of the geeky retro inspired frames from the 50’s and 80’s. Too bold for many, but choose a shape and size that flatters your features and you too will be able to join in with the nerdy fashion craze.
Oval Shaped Face

If you have an oval shaped face with a rounded chin and forehead then your luck is in! Your face is in balanced proportions and will appear longer that it is wide, with your jaw line being slightly narrower than your forehead. You can pull off almost any frame shape and design. However it is important to consider your complexion and hair colour when choosing the frame colour. Why not try this season’s most popular frame style, the Wayfarer inspired retro acetate glasses. Wear with pride just like Britain’s leading fashion commentator Gok Wan.
Rectangle Shaped Face

If you have a rectangular shaped face, with a larger square chin, prominent jaw line and a longer nose length then large, square frames will suit you best. A rectangular frame will help to balance out our features by making your face appear shorter. It’s your time to shine with a bit of bling! Diamante or decorative temple designs will add width to your narrow face.
Triangle Shaped Face

If you have a broad forehead with a narrow, rounded chin the frame for you is a small square or rounded shape to balance the proportions of your face. If you are looking to be bold with your frame choice go for a style that is wider at the bottom, this will emphasize the narrower lower half of your face. Looking for something more minimalistic? Then a light rimless frame will work wonders for you! If Jenifer Anniston can make rimless sexy then so can you!
Square Shaped Face

If the width and length of your face are proportionally equal, you have a defined jaw line and a broad forehead creating the perception of a square shaped face, you should go for narrow frames with a greater width then depth of the lens. A narrow frame, particularly oval or rounded will lengthen your face and soften your jaw line. They will place emphasis on your eyes, so pile on the mascara! We recommend you avoid square shaped frames like the plague, they will only make your features appear out of balance.
Diamond Shaped Face

Think you have a diamond shaped face? Then you are a rare specimen. The diamond shaped face is characterised by a narrow forehead and chin with wide cheekbones. This is the rarest of face shapes where the face is narrower at the eye line than the jaw. Frames that draw attention to the eyes will elongate this narrow part of your face. Glasses such as the ‘brownline’ style frame are perfect for doing this and the benefit is this style frame is on top of 2011 frame must haves. Another classic style that you can pull off with confidence is the dramatic cat eye shaped frame. Elegant yet theatrical a true classic if you are a confident glasses wearer!
Round Shaped Face

If you have a round face with full cheeks you should go for a frame that elongates your face and makes it appear narrower. Angular and narrow lens depth frames will lengthen your face. There are 1000’s of rectangular frames available to you, the world really is your oyster. At no cost must you go for a round frame, although popular this season they will not enhance your features. There are plenty of other rectangular fashion must have frames to choose from. Cheryl Cole may not have the roundest of faces but she pulls off narrow rectangle glasses with style.
Pyramid Shaped Face

Almost as rare as the diamond shape but no more unusual, the pyramid shape face has a narrow forehead and wider cheeks and chin. A pyramid shaped face craves a frame that draws attention to the eyes, widening the narrow upper third of the face. If you have a pyramid face shape be as bold and brassy as your fashion tastes allow. Go for frames that have are bold and striking in colour, with added detail at the temple. Like the fellow diamond shaped face, the browline or cat eye style frames will do you justice enhancing your eyes and balancing out your facial features. Lock the frame with confidence like Katy Perry.
Choosing the right frame does not simply stop there. You must also consider factors such as will the frame complement the colour of your favourite outfit, the complexion of your skin and the colour of your hair?
As a general guideline if you have fair hair then softer pastel shades will work their magic best by not overpowering your face. If you have dark hair then you can be adventurous with a more dramatic frame colour.

Fashion faux-pas are easy to make if you don’t follow the rules! By following the steps below you can ensure you look great and feel even better!
Heels are Your Friend
There isn’t a woman in the world that doesn’t look slimmer and sexier when wearing a pair of heels, but for plus sized ladies; heels are essential.
High heels help to lengthen and slim your legs, push your chest forwards and your bum back; thus enhancing these features and helping to increase the definition between your womanly curves and the bits you’re not so fond of.
Don’t feel that you have to wear a pair of six inch skyscrapers to benefit either; if you struggle to walk in heels, choose lower heights and avoid stilettos. Wedges are much easier to walk in if you want the height but can’t endure the pain of traditional heels.
The Fit is Fundamental
If you want to look your best, choose clothes that fit exactly right.
Too many plus size ladies choose to ‘cover up’ in baggy clothing, or buy a size too small through vanity or simple misguidance.
Neither option looks flattering.
Also, avoid tops that are too long. They will simply enhance the size of your upper body and make your legs appear short and frumpy.
Fitted silk shirts that nip in at the waist, skim your curves and rest at your hips are flattering. Long, baggy t-shirts are not.
When it comes to skirts; knee length is your friend. Baggy trousers should be avoided yet it’s also vital that they aren’t too tight. If you like loose clothing, tailored knee length shorts are a great alternative to a skirt.
Remember to dress for your body as it is now, not for how you wish it would be.
Avoid Loud Prints
Even if your clothes fit well excessive prints tend to make you appear larger than you actually are.
Plain colours are ideal but don’t make the mistake of covering up head to toe in black. Mix a brightly coloured top with a black skirt or trousers, or choose large pieces of colourful jewellery or a pair of statement shoes.
In fact, embrace junky jewellery. Slim women can look ‘swamped’ by oversized accessories while for plus sized ladies, it’ll create the illusion that you’re smaller than you are.
Don’t Forget it’s what’s Underneath that Counts
Quality, properly-fitted underwear is vital. An old or ill-fitting bra can ruin even the most carefully considered outfit so don’t let all your efforts falter here.
Visit a lingerie shop specialising in plus sizes. It might be tempting to visit a mall style lingerie shop that offer a larger range of sizes but don’t – you’re unlikely to attain the same support or quality.
In addition, ask the shop for a proper measurement and when trying the bras on, try them with your clothes over the top. This allows you to properly gauge how much the bra actually does or doesn’t enhance your figure.
Don’t feel you need to choose frumpy designs either. Plus sized underwear has travelled leaps and bounds in recent years; don’t be scared to wear lacy sets or silk underwear.

Women's Plus Size Clothing
Most plus size women don’t think that they can look sexy and beautiful in dresses. Models are seen in magazines as being “perfect” and that most dress designers cater their dresses for that type of body. The truth is that plus size dresses are more readily available by designers and there are many options to choose from to look great in. Most women make mistakes when buying plus size dresses whether it is a wedding dress, cocktail dress, or evening gown. There are certain things to consider for each type of dress so you can always look your best.
A wedding is one of the few times in life a woman gets to feel absolutely beautiful and have every eye and all the attention in the room on her. This is the most common reason why most women take weeks to find the perfect wedding dress. For plus size women, it is important to find the best dress to flatter the body and accentuate the positive points of the body. For example, a busty woman will benefit from a v-neck, low cut dress. On the other hand, if a strapless or sleeveless dress is not going to flatter the arms and chest area, a popular option is a sleeved dress which is going to add a timeless look especially if going with a lace style sleeve. A mistake that is best to avoid is buying a dress that is a billowy gown and very “Cinderella-like”. This style of dress is going to make the body appear much more round which is exactly what should be avoided. Instead, a properly fitted dress for a plus size woman should add a slimming effect.
Cocktail dresses are one of the most popular dresses and a great way to express yourself with the endless designs and patterns. Unlike wedding dresses or other types of dresses, cocktail dresses can be worn to a variety of occasions from casual to formal settings. There are several considerations to keep in mind when buying a plus size cocktail dress. The main options to look at are the color and also the fit. The colors should not be too bold or extravagant the best choice being neutral tone colors. This will give a slimming effect and also appears very classy. If a pattern must be chosen, vertical stripes are a great option since they also give an illusion of added height which will make you look slimmer. The same concept should be applied to cocktail dresses as they are with wedding dresses. Positive traits should be exploited and negative features should be hidden. For a plus size woman with great legs, a dress with a short cut length is a good choice and for a women who is uncomfortable showing off her arms, a sleeved dress is advisable.
Plus size women have desirable bodies because they can easily show off their curves and assets in their wardrobe. Shopping smart and knowing what to look for when buying a plus size dress will save you from headaches and will keep you in style looking beautiful. No matter what size or body type, there is always a variety of dresses to help you feel beautiful.

I love bright cheerful colors. As a plus-sized woman, I found it difficult to incorporate my love of bright colors into my wardrobe. When you’re not happy with the shape of your body, it’s easy to hide yourself in neutral colors. You can wear black from head-to-toe and blend right into the wallpaper. If you’ve been dressing to hide for years, it can be hard to break out of your shell. How can you gradually introduce more color to a neutral wardrobe?
1. Start small: buy a new purse
A purse is a great way to introduce color into your daily wardrobe. You can spend a lot of money if you want, but I generally go to Kohls or Marshalls for purses. The great thing about buying a bright colored purse is that you don’t have to worry about choosing a color that matches your skin tone. Just pick one in your favorite color or if you’re feeling brave, find the brightest color available.
If you really feel like this is too big a step or you’re really attached to the purse you have, try buying a small red or yellow scarf. Tie the scarf to the handle of your bag to add color without making a major change.
2. Add a bright piece of jewelry
It can be just a bracelet if you want but I recommend buying a necklace with colored beads. It can have tiny beads or large depending on your usual style. The point of adding this piece is to show you how color looks against your skin.
If your friends and coworkers are used to seeing you dressed in all black every day, adding a long string of pink beads around your neck is sure to generate compliments. Adding a color close to your face will draw attention to your smile, make sure you use it.
3. Buy a bright blouse or shirt to wear under a neutral blazer or sweater
This is a big step. A simple t-shirt or button-down blouse is a good start. Lane Bryant usually has blouses available in a rainbow of colors. Try a few on so you can see how different colors look with your skin tone.
People are really only going to see the collar and part of the front. They will know you look different but probably won’t be able to say exactly why.
4. Reverse step 2: buy a bright sweater or blazer to wear over a neutral shirt
Wear a simple cardigan in a bright color over a black t-shirt or camisole with black pants. If you’re feeling really bold, go with red. If you are still feeling shy about color, try light pink or dark purple.
People are going to notice the change. Be prepared for compliments.
If you made it through step 4, you’re free of your fear of colors. If you haven’t gotten past step 1 yet, don’t worry. Any pop of color in your neutral wardrobe will make you feel good.

He finally asked you to meet for a drink. You’ve already done your happy dance and told your best friend. Now you need to decide what you’re going to wear. This is a huge decision for any woman but for a plus-sized woman it can be especially difficult. We’re already insecure about our bodies, add first-date pressure on top of that and we might decide to stay home in our pjs instead. What’s the perfect outfit to wear for your date?
You want to feel confident: Before you go to the mall, think about what styles you look the best wearing. What colors get you the most compliments? You may want to get your best friend or sister on the phone to help you with this. If you wear an outfit that you know you look great in, that confidence will show. You’ll smile more and he will notice.
You want to be comfortable: If you’re thinking about the fact that your waistband is slicing through your spine, you won’t be focused on him. If you’re worried that your neckline might be cut too low, you’ll be distracted by it. You’ll come across as uncomfortable which he will interpret to mean you’re not having a good time. Men get insecure too: if you’re fidgeting, you appear restless, restless can be interpreted as bored and he’ll blame himself.
You want to dress right: You want to choose an outfit that is appropriate to the place you’re going on your date. If you’re meeting at a local bar or coffee shop, then a cute top with capri pants from Lane Bryant is perfect. If he’s taking you to a nice restaurant, then a little black dress from Jessica London will work.
Note: If you’re unsure, you can check customer reviews of the place online. If the reviewers use words like casual and fun, you know you can dress down. If the reviews all mention being there on a special occasion, dress nicer.
You want to keep the conversation going: Do you have a necklace you bought on a trip? Or a ring your grandmother gave you? Wearing jewelry serves two purposes: it will give you something to subtly play will and it will draw a compliment from him. When he compliments your necklace, you can tell him about your trip. If you don’t have an accessory that has a story, give your best friend $10 and send her to the mall. Then you can talk about your friend and the scarf she gave you.
The most important advice: Don’t get so worried about your clothes that you forget to have fun. No man ever got home from date and described his date’s outfit to his roommate. He might remember that your shirt was green because it matched your eyes, but only if he’s super-observant. He will remember your gorgeous smile and great laugh. He’ll remember that you two talked until the restaurant closed. He’ll remember that you looked pretty and that he liked you. He’ll remember that he wants to see you again soon.

Plus Size Swimwear Articles
There’s nothing inherently terrifying about the beach. Most beaches are beautiful and there’s nothing better than a nice swim on a hot day. It’s just that going to the beach involves wearing next to nothing. And wearing that few clothes in front of people! I would rather face Jaws than expose my upper arms and thighs to the world.
You have two choices: you can miss out on fun times with your friends and family or you can suck it up and find a beach wardrobe that works for you. How can you find beachwear that works for your plus-sized curves?
Step 1: Start with the bathing suit
This is the scariest part. I order online so I can deal with the trauma of trying on suits in the privacy of my own bedroom. I also recommend swim separates. Landsend.com is a great place to start. They have a variety of styles so you can highlight parts of your body and hide others. Their suits are high quality and will last a few summers. I bought a skirted bottom with a few different style tops: one with a lot of bust support for being active, one with a lower neckline for being pretty, and another one that I just thought was cute. If you didn’t know better, you would think I had 3 totally different suits. I still don’t love publicly wearing a bathing suit but I don’t feel exposed in these either.
When trying on suit separates, make sure you move around a lot. You want to make sure the top won’t ride up, your chest will remain covered and the bottom will stay in place.
Step 2: Find a cute cover up
In general, I find those flimsy things labeled beach cover-ups to be lacking in style. Cover-ups should allow you to step into a convenience store for bottled water without feeling naked. I wanted something more fashionable so I bought an inexpensive sundress from oldnavy.com instead. I chose a color that coordinated with my suit. Fortunately, maxi dresses are in style this season so there are plenty of options in all stores.
Step 3: Complete your outfit
You still need a cute pair of sandals, a colorful beach bag and a towel. You can find these items anywhere. Target has some fun and inexpensive options. Choose a towel and bag that match your suit. I always add a second tote bag that can be folded and tucked into my beach bag so I don’t have to mix wet items with dry.
When selecting sandals, you will want them to be stylish but also consider that you may want to walk into water wearing them. Basic flip-flops are always easy and will fit easily into a suitcase for travel.
Don’t forget to pick up sunglasses and sunscreen. Once you have completed a beach wardrobe with items you feel confident wearing, you’ll be more likely to agree to a fun outing on the beach.

Plenty of women struggle with weight gain and set out to lose weight at some point in their lives. Anyone who has ever tried dieting knows how hard it is to start losing weight, and then keep those pounds off. Women who suffer from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, PCOS, are in an even harder position. Weight gain is one of the most common symptoms of PCOS, and for those who are hoping for a baby losing that weight gain be the most effective way to start ovulating and get pregnant.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome strikes one to five percent of women. This condition happens when a woman’s ovaries do not produce a sufficient amount of hormones to allow eggs to mature – so rather than releasing an egg every month, some of the follicles turn into cysts. That is how PCOS gets its name. Like with diabetes patients, PCOS results in problems processing insulin, and that in turn leads to higher levels of male hormones called androgens.
PCOS is, unfortunately, a leading cause of infertility. And weight gain, which the majority of PCOS patients struggle with, is one of the factors that can prevent pregnancy. If you are wondering how to get pregnant with PCOS, losing only five to ten percent of the total body weight can normalize a PCOS patient’s menstrual cycle and increase her chances of making it happen. The big question is how do you lose weight when you have PCOS?
Diets that are high in fiber and low in sugar are good for women with PCOS. Take your inspiration from diets designed for diabetics and find a diet to normalize your blood sugar levels. Fruits and vegetables are great for you, processed foods and saturated fats are not.
Some nutritionists advise women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome to eat small meals but more frequently. This works towards keeping blood sugar levels stable as well.
Work out for a minimum of 30 minutes a day, as many days of the week as you can. Exercises that build strength and muscles are the best.
Weight loss is extremely difficult for PCOS patients, but with medications to aid the body in using insulin more effectively, reducing androgen levels and encouraging weight loss, you may be much more successful. Rimonabant in particular has been shown to promote weight loss in women who suffer from PCOS. With this drug, you could be on the way to using an ovulation calendar and getting a positive pregnancy test very soon.

Being in fashion is a wish every woman has today. If you think only slim women are able to flaunt the best dresses then you are wrong. Plus sized women may not always be thought of as fashion models in our weight obsessed country, but they definitely can look fascinating during red carpet occasions or even an evening out on the town.
In the early years of fashion, plus sized women had a tough time finding the perfect dress for them at most stores, so they often needed tailored clothing for the plus size figure. In modern day fashion many online stores offer a huge collection of plus sized dresses for women under different brands. Usually, plus size is referred to women who wear a size 16 in UK measurement and a 14 in the US. You do not need to seek out designers or order custom made plus sized clothes today because more than 50% of US and UK women are plus sized. Therefore, plus size clothing companies are gaining rapid growth in this market.
For example John Lewis is a well-known clothing store in the UK featuring plus size fashions. Other well-known US plus size clothing stores like Lane Bryant, Torrid, and Avenue have made a name for themselves, offering jeans, slacks, dresses, shirts and evening wear in plus sizes.
If you have a curvy body and you think nothing can fit you, think again, even popular celebrities like actress and singer Queen Latifah, singer Jill Scott and fashion model Whitney Thompson have a curvy body and have been among the best dressed women in Hollywood. With this in mind, focus on your good assets when buying clothing and hide your weaker points with flattering clothing instead.
Here are a few fashion tips to help you dress your best:
Stretchy pants are flattering, avoid tight jeans
Avoid all fads or fashion trends, find styles that fit your body
Have a sense of confidence in whatever you wear
Wear clothing that fits best for your size
Avoid halter tops with midriff showing your stomach area
Going by fashion trends does not always mean that you will look your best. A woman knows best what suits her body, so she must feel confident in whatever she wears. It is not difficult to find plus sized clothes nowadays as companies are now offering their brands under many big name online stores. With so many choices for plus size clothing plus size women should embrace their curves and celebrate their figures by wearing today’s trend setting plus size fashions.

Plus Size Women Articles Plus sized women face plenty of discrimination all the time but when we’re pregnant, the fun takes on a whole new form. When we are suffering from pregnancy signs and symptoms, it is perhaps not the comments from “concerned” relatives, friends, and even random strangers that are most hurtful – it is our healthcare providers that take the crown.
Are you pregnant, or trying to conceive? Women who have gone before you have had the pleasure of receiving comments like these from their obstetricians or midwives [1]:
You’re too fat. You are going to need a cesarean because of your weight. It is not good to be going into a pregnancy this obese.
I need you to get an epidural early in labor because with your weight, it will be hard to do one in an emergency!
You need to sort out your exercises.
The reason you had a miscarriage is because you’re too fat. You will never carry a pregnancy to term unless you stop eating Big Macs.
I see you gained 10 lbs since you were last into the doctor. You don’t want to be a fat mom who can’t run after your kids, right?
It’s lovely, isn’t it, how all those usual prejudices creep into maternity care? These are not really the kind of comments we expect from our doctors, yet they come up very frequently. Perhaps it is time for us to teach our healthcare providers a lesson, and counter those assumptions you find right there in those comments – who are they to assume that you are lazy, don’t exercise, eat Big Macs, and that they don’t need to treat you like a human just because you are plus sized?
What can you do if you meet one of these prejudices in your doctor’s office? Besides finding another doctor as soon as you can – one who will respect you – you might find that humor is the best way of dealing with folks like these. It’s not good going into a pregnancy this obese? “Well, it’s all my fault for not having had two thin parents. Perhaps I should just not carry on your bad genes at all?” If you are told to “sort out your exercises”, tell your doctor to “sort out their manners”. If you are told you don’t want to be a mom who can’t run after her kids, maybe your doctor should hear that she doesn’t want to be that mom who passes bad manners onto hers.
Size discrimination takes on a whole new level when we are expecting a baby. But remember, you should not have to deal with rudeness just because you are carrying a new human inside your uterus, even when the rudeness comes under the guise of medical care.
