Fashion Article: Flattering Fashions – Tips For a Complete Wardrobe

Posted under Plus Size Fashion, Plus Size Fashion Article, Plus Size Information, Plus Size Women Articles, Women's Plus Size Clothing by Plus Size Shopper

Finding flattering clothing in plus sizes can be a challenge. Fortunately many clothing lines are starting to make more fashionable clothing available in sizes other than zero. But, even with more options available, it can still be difficult to feel like you have a complete wardrobe to choose from. However, with a few tricks, you can cover the basics which will give you more style choices, no matter what your style is.

Shopping For Clothing

One of the major mistakes that curvier women make when they shop for clothes is that they buy in to the whole “hide your body” logic that is pushed on them, usually from a young age. Because of this, they tend to buy larger sizes than they should or choose styles and cuts that look baggy on them. This is a mistake, as it just adds bulk to your figure and makes you look frumpy – definitely not what you want.

Clothing that hugs your curves in just the right places is much more flattering than wearing a tent, hands down. You may feel awkward if you are used to hiding under very loose fitting clothing, but you may be surprised that there are many cuts that can be both stylishly curve-hugging and loose and comfortable at the same time. The trick is to find the right cut. A good tailor can help you to take-in clothing just where it is needed.

Colors

It’s true – darker colors are more slimming. This is why it is often advisable to choose darker toned clothing. Also solid colors are much more slimming than busy patterns. Wearing the same colored top and bottoms can also help to lengthen your figure and draw attention upwards.

It is important to remember, however, that even though darker colors are usually a staple in many women’s closets, adding pops of bright color here and there can really work to draw attention to your best features. A brightly colored detail on a dark colored dress can really be dramatic. Or a if you are wearing mainly dark colors, add some life with a colorful scarf draped low to create a more vertical line.

Undergarments

This is an area where most women skimp because it’s hidden, and thus not that important. However, good base garments can do wonders for the way your clothes look on your. Slimming undergarments can help you smooth out your curves for a sleeker silhouette, and even just wearing a camisole under your shirt can help the fabric of the shirt, or dress, to hug your body smoothly.

Fabric

Choose fabric that is soft and flowy. Any fabric that is thick or stiff will just wrinkle and bulge when you move, causing you to look bulkier. But softer fabrics move with your body, and can make you look graceful and feminine when you walk. Plus – they are much more comfortable.

Attitude

One thing that I find is missing from too many women’s wardrobes is the right attitude. A confident woman can wear a garbage bag and make it look like the hottest thing that ever hit the red carpet. Own what you wear, and don’t be afraid to be your stylish self. Be creative with your look and don’t be afraid to break rules if you think something will look great. Remember that how you feel in your clothes is what is important.
