When it comes to swimsuit shopping as the weather gets warmer, many of us are absolutely paralyzed with anxiety. Sound familiar? Even more so if there are a few “problem areas” that you so desperately want to hide from all of your fellow beachgoers.
Fortunately, there is a solution for the plus sized gal out there. Here are several top choices in swimsuit styles that are naturally slimming and much more forgiving so that you can sit back, relax, and really enjoy your summer vacation:
1. Remember Ruching: Not only is ruching stylish, but since the fabric is gathered together, it is much more forgiving when it comes to a swimsuit. If you want to channel a screen goddess from the 50s, then try a one-piece halter swimsuit with ruching to make a splash at the beach this summer. This style strategically hides the midsection, and it’s flattering and slimming throughout the entire length of the torso.
2. Halter Bikini Top: If you’re more of a two-piece type of girl, then a halter top will work best to balance your figure and flatter your entire frame. A halter top naturally balances your neckline and shoulders, and it makes your body look more proportional. On top of that, a halter top will show off your best features – shapely shoulders, a toned back, and a nice chest to boot. I’m not complaining!
3. Get Ruffled: Ruffles aren’t just for little girls anymore. When chosen strategically, ruffles on a swimsuit can be cute, whimsical, and draw attention to your best features. If you want to play up your best asset, i.e. your top half, then go for a swimsuit that has ruffles along the collar or chest. Or if you’re looking for an allover slimming effect, then choose a ruffled two-piece that has ruffles on both the top and bottom half. It works like a charm.
4. Don’t Forget Shapewear! There’s no reason to be intimidated by the term shapewear this summer. Today, many fashionable swimsuits are created as shapewear to slim and tuck where you need it the most. If you want to feel more comfortable reclining by the pool with the piña colada in hand, then a shapewear swimsuit may give you the control and support you have been looking for.
